Tencent Sports Acquires Ligue 1 Conforama, Serie A TIM, FA Cup and Scottish Premiership
Sports fans in China can look forward to catching some of the best European football with Tencent Sports’ securing the live streaming rights for the Ligue 1 Conforama, Serie A TIM, FA Cup and the Scottish Premiership from leading sports media rights agency MP ‘n’ Silva.
The non-exclusive new media rights cover mainland China for season 2017/18. The new deal will give sports fans the opportunity to watch five major European football properties, including the UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga, live on Tencent Sports and across its platforms.
Fans can catch six Ligue 1 Conforama matches per round (228 matches in total per season), as well as all 10 Serie A TIM matches per round will be shown throughout the Italian football season. For the FA Cup, Tencent Sports broadcast the Community Shield on the 6th of August, and 40 live matches from the first to the fifth round, as well as all seven matches from the quarterfinals onwards. The agreement also includes coverage of the Scottish Premiership that comprises 55 live matches for the upcoming season.
The French football season started on the 5th of August, and viewership will certainly be bolstered by the most talked about football transfer this season in Neymar Jr’s move from to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona.
Apart from live-streaming matches, fans are able to watch highlight shows and review programmes. Tencent Sports will live-stream all matches and programmes across all platforms, including its website, Tencent Video app, Tencent Sports app, and Tencent news app.

Tencent Sports kicked off its football coverage of the 2017/2018 season with the opening Ligue 1 Conforama game between Monaco vs Toulouse, and the first Scottish Premiership match, Celtic v Heart of Midlothian.
